There are two prerequisites that are essential to increase your performance and communications and, at the same time, reduce stress. One, set realistic goals. An example of a realistic goal can be to improve communication with your friend or with a colleague. Imagine yourself performing or communicating at a level of high proficiency which you know and occasionally do reach.
And, two, set specific goals. For example, choose a skill that you want to improve so you can mentally rehearse the skill precisely. When you want to improve communication with your friend, practice the skills of active listening, empathizing, and using ‘ ‘I” statements.
Fine-tuning your ability to communicate with and understand others will help you recharge and make full use of your mental, physical and emotional energy. This will help you to become more self-aware and greatly increase your focus in personal and professional situations.
Learn to recognize your patterns of behavior that keep you from changing. Use your communication skills and practice visualization to change negative thoughts and actions into positive ones. Communicate with yourself and others concerning the behaviors you want to change. This will help others to become more aware of your intentions to change.
